CMA Transcript Evaluation – Quarterly Draw!

Did you know that CMA Ontario offers a FREE, no-obligation, Transcript Evaluation (TE) Service and that submitting your transcripts to CMA Ontario will qualify you for Ryerson’s Quarterly $100 TE Prize Draw?


NOW is the perfect time to find out how close you are to being eligible for the highly sought-after CMA designation. Submit a copy of your unofficial transcripts (printed directly from RAMSS) to CMA Ontario during one of their upcoming information sessions (Jan. 17, 5 – 6 pm or Feb.8, 12 – 2 pm) or send your documents to their offices inside the Telus Building at 25 York St.  Take advantage of the FREE TE Service to confirm which CMA courses you have completed and understand the best path for you if you choose to pursue the professional designation ranked #1 by employers for both financial management and general business management positions.  NOTE:  Please complete the Cover Sheet from www.cmaontario.org/transcript to submit with a copy of your transcripts. Remember, all students who submit a transcript will qualify for CMA Ontario’s regular Quarterly $100 Transcript Evaluation Prize Draw for Ryerson students.  Congratulations to Andrew Clegg for winning Ryerson’s first $100 prize of the 2011-2012 school year.

Board of Ambassadors

They lead participants in the University Ambassador Program as they prepare to become powerful industry honchos.

What is the Board of Ambassadors?

The Board of Ambassadors (BoA) — Join top university students from across Ontario and be part of the “Student Council” for the University Ambassador Program (UAP). They act as an advisory and advocacy group for the CA profession. The BoA is comprised of accounting students from over 20 university campuses across Ontario. Each university has both a junior (2nd year) and senior (3rd year) representative.

Who can become a BoA Rep?

The BoA representative position is one that requires a high degree of professionalism and initiative.  It is a highly sought after position that often leads to references from ICAO staff and ultimately employment with a CA Training Office.  As such, all prospective Board of Ambassador representatives must meet the following requirements:

  • Be pursuing their CA designation
  • Membership in the University Ambassadors Program
  • A minimum B grade average
  • Entering second or third year of university in the Fall 2012
  • Submit an Application by Package Monday January 23, 2012 (Resume, Unofficial Transcript, Letter of Reference from staff or faculty member, Application form)
  • Have no prior experience (and no future job offer) with a CA Training Office

What do BoA Reps do?

  • Attend ICAO meetings (March 2012, August 2012, January2013, and March 2013)
  • Promote the UAP on campus
  • Promote and recruit students for the CA$H and Rule The Tube competition and Chartered For Finance Conference
  • Promote and participate in CA-related events on campus
  • Participate in Committees and focus groups

What are some Key BoA Characteristics?

  • Well-connected on campus
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Communication skills
  • Extroverted
  • Ethical

The current Board of Ambassadors will select the top 3 candidates for each level, with assistance from campus clubs and faculty.  The applications for these candidates will then be passed onto the Career Information team at the ICAO who will perform interviews with each individual and ultimately select the BoA going forward.

Interviews and final selection of all reps is at the discretion of the ICAO Career Information team.

Volunteer with RUAS for ACHIEVE!

RUAS is looking for five volunteers to help out with our national conference on January 26 and 27.

If you would like to learn more about RUAS and participate in some of our behind-the-scenes activities, ACHIEVE is your perfect chance!

On January 26 and 27, Ryerson University Accounting Society will be hosting its’ fourth annual ACHIEVE Accounting Conference and Competition in the heart of downtown Toronto, home to the largest accounting firms in Canada.

Last year was the first year where the conference aspect of the event was introduced. Due to its success, once again ACHIEVE will feature guest speakers, including CEOs from various companies (TBA), who will give keynote speeches regarding our main theme, “Winning in Business & Life.”

Former guest speakers include:
· Chris Clark, former CEO of PricewaterhouseCoopers
· Ken Campbell, CEO of Wind Mobile
· Vicky Au, 2010 UFE Gold Medalist, Deloitte

 

This years guest speakers include:

· Schools may send up to two teams, consisting of four delegates (third and/or fourth year accounting majors with an exception of one second year student)
