Melanie Ayer

Recruitment Specialist – National Recruitment

My Name is Melanie Ayer and I am pleased to introduce myself as the Recruitment Specialist for the Audit and Assurance Group (AAG) at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). I began my career at PwC in January 2008 at our Downtown Office as part of the GTA Campus Recruitment team.

Prior to working at PwC I graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honours degree in Studio Arts with a minor in Art History. I then completed a one year program at Humber College where I obtained my Human Resource Management Certification and went on to pass the HR National Knowledge Exam in October 2009.

During my time at PwC, I have had a variety of excellent opportunities, including working and planning the summer student program, developing new recruiting programs such as the Experience Program for second year University students and organizing new recruiting events such as our 2011 PwC National Conference – Creating Brilliant Futures . My role has also allowed me to work on our National Recruiting Campaign while working with people across different lines of services and offices. I have also been involved in Foundation volunteer days and other firm recruiting activities.

I sincerely look forward to meeting all of you during the upcoming recruiting process!

Sheetal Gupta

GTA Campus Recruitment Senior, Downtown Office – Audit and Assurance Group

Hello! My name is Sheetal Gupta and I am a Campus Recruitment Senior for the Audit and Assurance Group (AAG) at PwC. I began my career with PwC in September 2008 as a full time associate after graduating from the Richard Ivey School of Business. Since joining the firm I’ve worked on clients in different industries, including real estate, IT and mutual funds. I have had the opportunity to be a UFE Mentor, member of the Tower Committee, and member of a PwC soccer team. I am also excited about my new role as a “PwC Rockstar” being one of the six faces of PwC’s brand new recruiting campaign.

When I’m not at work I like to travel, volunteer, dance and spend time with my family in my home town of Niagara Falls.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my various experiences with PwC over the past 3 years. PwC has a very approachable culture – everyone is friendly, down-to-earth and hard-working. I have developed life-long friendships here. PwC has a commitment to help you succeed by providing each person with a coach, mentor, and various other opportunities to connect with like-minded people such as through team socials, summer fun day, rookie night, etc…

I look forward to the upcoming recruiting season and meeting prospective PwC employees!

Reema Chheda

Manager, Audit and Assurance Group – Toronto North Office

Hi! My name is Reema Chheda and I am a new manager in the Audit and Assurance Group (AAG) at the Metro North office of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). I first began work at PwC in 2004 as a co-op student in the International Assignment Solutions Group, as an Expatiate Tax Associate in the downtown office. In 2006, upon graduation from the University of Toronto at Scarborough with a Bachelors of Business Administration, I joined the firm full-time in the audit practice at the Metro North office.

I wrote (and passed!) the Core-Knowledge Exam, School of Accountancy and Uniform Final Exam in 2006 and took advantage of PwC’s STOP program the following summer to travel. I successfully obtained my CA designation in 2008.

Throughout my time at PwC I have had the opportunity to work on a wide-variety of clients; small and large, public and private and across various industries including retail, real estate, manufacturing, restaurant services, and not-for-profits.

In addition to client work, as a member of the social committee and co-chair of the United Way committee, I plan various events for the firm. I am also a PwC Experience Champion, a Recruiting Champion, a PwC Foundation Champion and a Private Enterprises GAAP champion. In addition, I have participated in firm-sponsored out-of-office activities such as team volunteer days, teaching a 7th grade class as a part of our Junior Achievement program and even taking pledges at the Easter Seals telethon.

Two years ago, I had the opportunity to take on the role of a GTA Campus Recruitment Senior Associate through a six month secondment. I thoroughly enjoyed the role and continue to remain involved with recruiting.

Now that you’ve had a chance to learn a little bit about me, I look forward to meeting with you and getting to know you better!

Shoiab Hassan

Senior Associate – Audit and Assurance Group

Hello! My name is Shoiab Hassan and I am an experienced senior in the audit and assurance group at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC). I am also one of the GTA Campus Recruitment Champions. I joined PwC as a summer student in 2006. In September 2007, I joined PwC as a full-time audit associate after graduating from Ryerson University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. While I was at Ryerson, I was involved in many extracurricular activities, one being the accounting society (RUAS) where I served as president in my final year. I passed my CA exams in 2008 and completed my practical CA experience in early 2010.

From small NPO’s/private companies to large profit oriented companies in the energy and the real estate industry, I’m involved with a wide verity of clients who offer diverse experiences. This non-specialization that PwC offers has kept me challenged and has given me exposure to a broader range of industries and clients. I’ve also had the opportunity to travel to parts of the U.S., such as Houston and Cleveland, on many occasions. I enjoy the travel and the international exposure in my career.

Since joining PwC I have been actively involved in a number of recruiting events at Ryerson University as well as other universities. In addition to recruiting, I always make time to volunteer on behalf of PwC. Some of the volunteer activities involve organizing events for young children or educating elementary students on economics and finance. I am also on the summer student ARC committee where we access how summer students performed during their summer term.

I thoroughly enjoyed the numerous experiences with PwC so far and I look forward to discussing more about my experiences with you.
