About the ICAO
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario is the qualifying and regulatory body of Ontario’s 35,000 Chartered Accountants and 5,000 CA students. Since 1879, the Institute has protected the public interest through the CA profession’s internationally recognized standards of qualification and the enforcement of its rules of professional conduct. Chartered Accountants are the professionals Canada’s business leaders trust to help make the financial, strategic and leadership decisions that matter. Mona Ghiami, CADirector, Career Information Mona graduated with honours from the University of British Columbia earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Biopsychology. She qualified as a CA with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in Vancouver. During her time in Vancouver, Mona was a member of the PwC Chartered Accountants School of Business (CASB) Education Committee, the PwC Learning & Education Committee, the Finance Committee for the Boys & Girls Club as well as a UFE Mentor and Case Writing Instructor. After 3 years with the Vancouver office she transferred to PwC Chicago where she was also part of the Audit & Assurance Group. In her 4 ½ years in public practice in the Vancouver & Chicago PwC offices, Mona worked on a variety of clients ranging from High-Tech/Biotech to Forestry/Mining as well as Not-for-Profits. After working in Chicago for 1 ½ years, Mona moved to Toronto to take on the role of PwC’s National Recruitment Manager and did so for 3 recruiting seasons. Mona joined the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario as the Director of Career Information in March 2007. She sits on the National Recruiting Working Group (which is comprised of her counterparts across Canada) and she has been a Board Member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Ontario since June 2007 and is currently the Chair. |

Cordie Jagt, CAAssociate Director, Career Information Cordie obtained her Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University (2001-2005). During this time she worked as a Supervisor at Titles Bookstore, held a teaching assistant position for the introduction to business course and served time on the DeGroote Accounting Association executive team throughout her university career, ending with President in her graduating year. Upon graduation, she began working in the Audit and Assurance Group at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in their Downtown Toronto office. During this time she worked on companies in a variety of industries including entertainment & media, insurance, banking, real estate and not-for-profits. Cordie spent time as the Chair of the UFE Mentor Committee at PwC and was quite involved with the Social Committee. She also did a six month secondment to the National Campus Recruitment team. After writing her professional exams and qualifying as a CA, Cordie transferred to the GTA Campus Recruiting team at PwC and spent 2 years in this department, hiring approximately 400 students during this time. Cordie started at the ICAO in January of 2010. She thoroughly enjoys working with students who are interested in obtaining their CA designation and is excited to continue this in her role at the Institute. Cordie is also quite involved with the Canadian Cancer Society and has volunteered in their Daffodil Campaign for two years and more recently as the Co-Chair of Survivor Recruitment & Reception for the Relay for Life event in Etobicoke. She has also been active in a professional organization called the Canadian Association of Career Educators & Employers (CACEE), serving time on their Ontario Regional Board, the National Communications Committee, and Editorial Advisory Board for Career Options Magazine. |
